Our little Everly..
It's been a while since I last blogged. It's scary how quickly time passes us by. I mean the last time I wrote on here was when Everly was 9 weeks old. He is now coming up to 8 months, and I seriously cannot tell you when, what, why or how that happened!
Everly has hit all of his developmental milestones so far! He laughed for the first time when he was 13 weeks old. Rolled over at 15 weeks. Started picking things up and holding them at four months. Cut his first tooth at 5 months, second at 5 months and ten days! Sat up at six months. Started crawling at six months and 25 days old. Started cruising at seven months, walking with assistance and standing alone for a few seconds - 7 and a half months.
He's been a very fast learner. Once he learns one thing, he has to learn another. He just can't be happy with what he can do, he has to keep going. He's only been crawling a month and he is desperate to walk. Today he started walking holding into one hand! He is so frustrated with himself when he can't do something. Before he started crawling, he was a very whingy baby! Especially when he sees Aoife running/walking about! Now he can crawl around and explore, he is a totally different child, and so much happier! You won't hear from him now until he wants food.
He tires me out so much more than Aoife did. Everly requires constant watching. He likes to push the limits too! He finds the word "no" super hilarious. He loves to pull hair, pinch faces, grab skin! He is a vicious little thing! But he is also the biggest little softy! He loves kisses and cuddles and carries! And even though I have to watch him like a hawk, constantly repeat myself, have the patience of a saint, I am absolutely loving it!
We are babyled weaning, and Everly is thoroughly enjoying it! Melal times are so lovely, especially as we all like to sit around the table together - a thing that is important to us as a family. He loves everything we give him! And he will try everything too! It's messy but it works so well for us. Today we gave him a bowl instead of putting food on the high hair tray as he kept throwing it off, and to our surprise he kept the bowl on the table and took out the food he wanted to eat! We couldn't believe it! Hopefully this is the start to a bit more cleaner meal times! It is also good for Aoife because we are buying things we wouldn't normally buy, and Aoife is trying them too and loving it!
We are coming up to our 8th month of breast feeding, and I'm still loving it! I love that at the end of everyday at the same time, we get to lay down together and nurse, just us two. His little face when he searches for his food to get him back to sleep is what I love the most. It's so comforting for him, and I am the only one that can do that for him. I will be very sad when our journey comes to an end. He has started slapping at my boobs when he wants milk, and has tried lifting my too up too! Feeds have cut down a lot since he was newborn, which is understandable. And I find if I'm out, he will get very distracted and keep stopping and starting! But other than that, things are still going smoothly! And I will wait for him to tell me he doesn't want anymore :).
Everly is a baby of routine. He always has been, since about a week old. We decided not to bath him one day when he was about a week old, and he threw a tantrum. Couldn't get him to stop crying until we gave him a bath. And then his massage. This lasted quite a few months. But now our routine, consists of waking up between 6:30-8, breakfast probably 2 hours of playing, feed and maybe a nap. If not a nap then, it will be around 11. Lunchtime, playing or whatever we have planned. Nap around 2:30/3ish. Daddy gets home. Cook dinner around 4. Dinner at 5, and this is when Everly starts getting really tired and whingy because he knows bedtime is coming! Bath time around 5:30. Bedtime at 6pm. He is then out for the night apart from a couple of feeds! I love that he is in such a good routine! He is such an easy baby.
He is so cheeky, and has such a devilish character! He is certainly going to be a wind up! He loves to keep to himself a lot of the time. And is very quiet. He loves his big sister so much and his eyes light up when he sees her, as do they when he sees daddy too!
I wish he would slow down and be my baby for as long as possible!
Here are some of my favourite photos since our last update!
